More news coming…

Well, we had an amazing weekend.  It was the babies’ first birthday party and family started piling into our house on Friday night and they all left at various times today.  For those 4 days, we partied, we laughed, and we had 2 gloriously happy yet sick babies!  Oh yes, they got sick on their birthday.  I originally blamed the shopping cart that Zach licked last Wednesday, even though I wiped it down with an antibacterial cloth.  But actually, we went for a checkup earlier that day and I think they picked up something at the pediatrician’s office.  Like clockwork, the next day, Zach had green boogers and was feeling crappy and Rissa followed him the day after.  Of course, now Matt and I are both sick as well!

They persevered through the weekend, enjoying all the attention and excietment of having 7 adults here most of the time, plus the extras who came for just the party on Sunday afternoon!  I literally have over 400 pictures to sort through, so I’m not ready to post those.  More to come.  But I will say that their first birthday party reminded me of my wedding.  I really wanted to just enjoy it and lock it away as a memory and not get bogged down in the details of planning.  On our wedding day, I released myself from stress and just enjoyed myself, so I did the same thing on Sunday and it worked!  I experienced loved ones coming together in community to celebrate the babies, and it was beautiful.   We had SUCH a great time with the 14 family members who were there!  Pictures still to come, but I’ve got alot of sorting to do first!

Finally, as a completely random sidenote, I’m so excited that I have to announce this with no segue at all… some dear friends of ours just announced that they are pregnant with twins!  I am fully convinced that twins are ideal and that our twins are exceptionally ideal, so this is very exciting for me.  Let the twin connection continue!  We have them, we met Sara and Nathan because we both have boy/girl twins and theirs are 6 months younger than ours, a friend at church has boy/girl twins who are 5 months younger than ours, and now another set of undisclosed gender twins are arriving next February!  Wheeee!!!!!!!!!  Some ridiculously rude lady behind me in line at Michael’s while perusing the several headlines about celebrity twins lately said with disgust in her voice, “You have twins, hmm?  Yeah, everybody is having them.”  She proceeded to tell me that she knew exactly WHY this was happening and I won’t repeat that here because it was insidiously angering.  I clenched my stroller so as not to punch her, pasted on a smile and said, “Actually, it’s because having twins is SO GREAT!!!!” and then I took the two cuties who inspired the conversation out of there so we wouldn’t have to hear another word!  How anyone could look at our beautiful children and think they are anything less than a generous gift from God who blessed us beyond measure by placing them in our family is beyond me!  Congrats to Becky and Brian!
