Matt’s Mini-Me

I’ll begin with a disclaimer:  our children are not actually miniature versions of us.  They are their own people.  We know that.  But it is incredibly fun to study them and determine what characteristics (physical and personality) they got from each of us.  I sometimes call Zach “Little Daddy” because he makes these facial expressions that look EXACTLY like Matt.  In fact, I caught Matt making a Zach concentration face and said, “Hey, you look just like Zach!”  He was offended at my reversed causality; “No, Zach looks just like ME!”  Never mind that Zach has my coloring, he reminds me more and more of Matt every day.  He is a laid-back little guy with an easy, inviting smile and big, inquisitive eyes, just like Matt.  (We actually held him up in the mirror next to us, and at 8 months old, his eyes are already larger than Matt’s or mine!  So he has Matt’s eye starter kit, but when combined with my genetic information inherited from my mom’s big eyes, he has the upgrade version).  I”m hoping both of our children get the good stuff from both of us (we call it cross-pollenation), but let me demonstrate to you what I am talking about.  I took this picture of Zach on April 14 and yesterday, I found this picture of Matt at an unknown age, but probably between 10-18 months if I were to guess.  Does anyone else see what I’m seeing?????
